What is Simulated Temperature Forecasting?

Simulated Temperature Forecasting is like a weather forecast for your delivery trucks. It predicts potential temperature issues before they happen, giving you advance notice so you can take action to prevent violations and protect your products.

How It Works

1. The system analyzes the last 2 hours of air temperature data from your route.

2. It calculates a 2-hour moving average of air temperatures.

3. This average is projected forward using veroFresh™’s temperature simulation algorithm.

4. Forecasted product temperatures are generated at 1-minute intervals for up to 4 hours ahead.

5. You get 60–180 minutes of advance warning to take action and prevent potential violations.

Why It Matters

• ✅ Prevent fatal temperature violations before they occur

• ✅ Take corrective action while trucks are still at the Distribution Center

• ✅ Reduce product spoilage and waste

• ✅ Maintain regulatory compliance and food safety standards

Requirements

For a forecast to be available, the following requirements need to be met:

1. The route is linked to a Route Plan:
   

2. There are at least 2 hours of continuous temperature data, meaning:

   1. There are no fatal temperature violations in the last 2 hours

   2. There are no data gaps of 90 minutes or more

   3. Temperature sensors are actively reporting data

3. The route is still active, and the trailer has not yet arrived at the route’s first stop

Viewing Forecasts and Their Violations

1. From the left-hand menu in your veroFresh™ account, go to Route Archive.

2. Click on a staging route (a route where the trailer has not yet left the DC) or a route where the trailer hasn't arrived at its first stop.

3. On the route detail page, you will see the temperature chart with the forecast prediction line:
   

When conditions indicate a potential hot or cold violation, forecast violations will appear.

Click the cloud icon in the top-right corner of the route header to view detailed violation information, including:

• Product name

• Temperature zone (Freezer, Cooler)

• Estimated time until violation

  
  

Forecast Violation Indicators

Forecast violations are also visible directly in your route lists, allowing you to spot risks without opening the route.

You may see the following icons next to product temperatures:

• 🔴 Red cloud icon with an exclamation mark — Hot forecast violation
  (Temperature predicted to exceed the maximum threshold)

• 🔵 Blue cloud icon with an exclamation mark — Cold forecast violation
  (Temperature predicted to fall below the minimum threshold)

Filtering Routes by Forecast and Fatal Violations

The Route Archive page includes a Violation Level filter to help you separate forecasted violations from fatal ones.

Violation Level Options

• Fatal — Routes with actual violations (Hot, Cold, No Data, Excessive Gap in Data)

• Forecast (Staging) — Forecasted violations predicted before the trailer reaches the first stop

Troubleshooting: Why Temperature Forecasts May Not Appear

If you click on a route and a temperature forecast is not available, please make sure that all requirements listed in the Requirements section above are met.

Error Messages

If the system cannot generate a forecast, it will show an explanation directly on the temperature chart. You may see messages such as:

“Not enough data”
→ The route needs at least 2 hours of continuous air temperature data.

“Too many violations”
→ Recent fatal violations or large data gaps prevent forecasting.

“No route plan linked”
→ Link the route to a plan to enable forecasting.

“Route has ended”
→ Forecasts only run for active staging routes.

These messages are designed to be clear and help you quickly identify what needs attention.
