A route in veroFresh™ brings together the temperature, location, delivery, product, vehicle, and route information needed to review an active or completed delivery.
This article explains how routes are created, what information is required for a route to work correctly, how to read the Route page and temperature graph, and how to use each tab when reviewing or investigating a route.
Note: Cooler temperature, freezer temperature, and GPS/location data are received from the telematics provider. veroFresh™ uses this information to simulate the product temperature data used for route assessment. If you’re not seeing temperature for your products or find any issues with your route, please check this article for additional troubleshooting.
What is a Route?
A route represents a vehicle's journey from departure through its deliveries and other recorded stops.
A route allows you to review:
- Route start and end times
- Route duration
- Vehicle/trailer information
- Temperature readings
- Product temperatures
- Stops and delivery locations
- Temperature violations and warnings
- Forecast violations
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Route notes
- Route data
- Changes made to the route through the Audit Log
What Does a Route Need to Work?
Several pieces of information are required for a route to be created and displayed correctly:
| Required information | Purpose |
| Route Plan | Provides the planned route timing and locations used to link the route. |
| Locations | Identifies the stops associated with the route. |
| Vehicle/Trailer | Identifies the vehicle or trailer assigned to the route. |
| Telematics data | Provides the vehicle's temperature and GPS data during the route, which veroFresh requires to simulate product temperature. |
The availability and behavior of some of these items depend on how the customer's DC creates routes.
For more information about how routes are created, see Non-WMS vs. WMS DC article here.
Understanding the Route Header
At the top of the Route page, you will see the route number and several indicators.
- Route number
- Vehicle/Trailer
- Route dates and times
- Violation indicators
The icons next to the vehicle identify recorded route violations.
| Indicator | Meaning |
| Exclamation mark | Indicates a route violation or warning. Red for the violation and yellow for the warnings |
| Cloud with exclamation mark | Indicates a forecast violation. |
The number displayed on an indicator represents the number of issues associated with that category.
Route Actions
On the right side of the Route page, the Actions section provides tools for managing and reviewing the route.
Edit Route
You can edit a route to update the route’s trailer, route plan, start time, end time and the product start temperatures.
For instructions on how to edit a route, please refer to this Editing a Route article.
Export Route Data
Export Route Data allows users to export the route's data for further review or analysis.
This can be useful when:
- Investigating a temperature issue
- Reviewing detailed route information outside veroFresh
- Comparing route data with telematics/provider data
- Sharing route information for investigation
- Reviewing timestamps or data gaps in more detail
When investigating a discrepancy, the exported route data can be compared with the available telematics or trailer logs to identify missing, delayed, or unexpected readings.
Note: The Export Route Data button is only available after the route has ended. It is not available while the route is still in progress.
Understanding the Temperature Graph
The temperature graph provides a visual representation of the temperature data collected throughout the route.
- The horizontal axis represents time.
- The vertical axis represents temperature in °C or °F.
The graph can contain multiple temperature lines, reference lines, and shaded areas.
Temperature Lines
The graph can display several types of temperature data.
| Graph element | Meaning |
| 🟢 Green line | Cooler Product Temperature |
| 🔵 Blue line | Freezer Product Temperature |
| Dark green line | Cooler Air temperature |
| Dark blue line | Freezer Air temperature |
| Orange line | Cooler Set Point |
| Yellow line | Freezer Set Point |
| Pink shaded area | Data gap across the period shown |
| Blue shaded area | Stop |
| Horizontal limit lines | Applicable product temperature limits |
Reminder: Product temperature is generated by veroFresh™ for route assessment. Cooler air, freezer air, GPS, and related vehicle telemetry are based on data received from the customer's telematics provider.
Showing or Hiding Temperature Lines
You can choose which temperature lines are displayed on the graph.
Under the graph, click the corresponding item in the graph legend to hide or display that line.
This can be useful when you want to focus on a specific product, air temperature, or set point while investigating a route.
Understanding the Temperature Limits
Horizontal reference lines may appear on the graph to show the applicable product temperature limits.
These limits help determine whether the product temperature remained within the expected range.
When a product temperature crosses an applicable limit, review the corresponding Violation, Warning, or Forecast Violation, and then review the relevant route information to understand what happened.
For information about how violations and RCA are assessed, see Root Cause Analysis.
Understanding Shaded Areas on the Graph
Shaded areas provide additional information about events occurring during a specific period of the route.
Pink Shaded Area — Data Gap
A pink shaded area indicates a data gap in either the cooler or freezer during the period shown. You can hover over the pink shaded area to see when the data gap started and ended and which product has a data gap. Alternatively, click the red exclamation mark to view the affected product, the exact time of the data gap, and its duration.
This means the expected data was unavailable during that period.
When you see a pink data-gap area:
- Check the route's violations or warnings.
- Review the timestamps.
- Check the affected temperature zone.
- Compare the temperature data before and after the gap.
- Review the Route Data for additional information.
Blue Shaded Area — Stop
A blue shaded area indicates a stop during the route.
Compare the stop with the locations shown in the Locations tab to determine where the vehicle was during that portion of the route.
Locations Tab
The Locations tab shows the stops associated with the route.
Depending on the route, you may see:
| Information | What it means |
| Location | The delivery location or stop. |
| Freezer Product | Product temperature recorded for the frozen product. |
| Refrigerated Product | Product temperature recorded for the refrigerated product. |
| Arrival | The time the vehicle arrived at the locaion. |
| Departure | The time the vehicle departed the location. |
| Duration | The amount of time the vehicle remained at the location. |
Product Temperature at a Stop
The product temperature displayed for a location represents the temperature recorded at the time the trailer arrived at that stop.
When Product Temperature Shows "Not Set"
A product temperature may show as Not Set in situations where a temperature is not yet available.
For example:
- The route is still in progress.
- The vehicle has not yet arrived at the stop.
- A product temperature has not been recorded for that stop.
- The required data is not available.
If a completed route shows Not Set when a temperature should be available, refer to the relevant Product Temperature troubleshooting article for additional troubleshooting steps.
Route Plan
The Locations tab also displays the associated Route Plan and its start/end times.
Use this information to compare the planned route timing with what actually occurred.
6. Products Tab
The Products tab provides product-related information for the route.
Use this tab to review:
- Products associated with the route
- Product temperature information
- Product-specific information used during the route assessment
The starting temperature used for a product may come from the Product Start Temps page or may be provided by the customer's WMS when the route is created.
For more information about product starting temperatures, see Product Start Temps article.
Note: If your DC uses WMS, the Product Start Temps page may not be available to you. In these cases, the WMS may provide the product starting temperature when creating the route.
The Products tab also includes an Audit Log for route products. Use this when you need to determine whether product information was changed and when that change occurred.
Root Cause Analysis Tab
The Root Cause Analysis (RCA) tab is used to document and review the cause of a route violation or temperature issue.
For detailed information about completing and reviewing an RCA, see Root Cause Analysis article.
Notes Tab
The Notes tab allows users to add relevant notes to a route (if any).
Route Data Tab
The Route Data tab provides detailed data received and processed for the route.
This is one of the most useful areas to review when investigating a route issue because it allows you to look beyond the visual temperature graph.
Use Route Data when:
- A temperature reading looks unusual.
- A reading appears to be missing.
- You need to verify a timestamp.
- A route violation has been recorded.
- You need to investigate a data gap.
- You are completing an RCA.
- You need to compare veroFresh™ data with information from the telematics provider.
Extended Route Data
Extended Route Data provides additional detailed route information that may not be visible in the standard Route Data view.
Use this when you need more information during a detailed investigation.
Expanded Minute Rows
Expanded Minute Rows allow you to review the available data at a more detailed time interval.
This can be particularly useful when investigating:
- A specific violation timestamp
- Temperature changes
- Data gaps
- Missing readings
- Differences between route information and telematics records
Comparing Route Data With Telematics Records
Route Data can be used to review the information veroFresh™ received from your telematics provider.
If the records shown in veroFresh™ do not match the records available from the telematics provider, compare the timestamps and values carefully.
If you identify a discrepancy between the data shown in veroFresh™ and the records provided by the telematics provider, contact veroFresh™ Support so the difference can be investigated.
Route Data can also be used alongside a route violation. The violation identifies when an issue occurred, while Route Data allows you to review the data available around that timestamp.
Audit Log Tab
The Audit Log records changes and actions associated with the route.
Use the Audit Log when you need to determine:
- What was changed
- When a change occurred
- What actions were performed on the route
- Whether route information was modified after the original route data was generated
The Audit Log displays the following columns:
- Date/Time – When the change occurred.
- User – The user who made the change.
- Action – The type of change made.
- Details – Provides additional information about the change.
When you open the Details dropdown, you can see the specific information associated with the change, including:
- Attribute – The product field that was changed.
- Original Value – The value before the change.
- New Value – The value after the change.
Route Product Audit Log
Route products also have an associated Audit Log.
Use the product Audit Log when you need to determine whether product information was changed, what was changed, and when the change occurred.
